The Adolescent Substance Use & Addiction Program (ASAP) at Boston Children’s Hospital provides national leadership in the identification, diagnosis, and treatment of substance use problems and disorders in children and adolescents. We are currently recruiting for a 40-hour Social Worker to join our team! The ideal candidate has experience and/or interest in providing family therapy and group therapy interventions.
The ASAP Social Worker will be responsible for:
- Performing comprehensive evaluations to assess severity of substance use problems and disorders, psychosocial needs.
- Providing direct care to outpatients and their families through individual and group therapy.
- Serving as a member of an interdisciplinary team to plan and implement patient care, assist in program development and participate in continuous quality improvement efforts of the program.
- Facilitating communication between patient and family; education of family about substance use and substance use disorders, appropriate levels of care and treatment options.
- Providing consultation to interdisciplinary team members on psychosocial and substance use issues and specific patient needs. Conducting related staff education programs as assigned.
- Participating in departmental meetings, committees, work groups as needed or assigned.
- Utilizing supervision to enhance practice. May assist in supervision of Resource Specialist and/or Social Work Interns.
To qualify, you must have:
- A Master’s degree in Social Work and LICSW is required.
- Strong clinical skills and experience with various therapeutic modalities.
- Flexibility and ability to work in fast-paced environment.
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Experience working with substance use disorder identification and treatment a plus.
This is a hybrid position, with 1-2 days worked out of our offices in Brookline and some evening hours are required
