Job Description:
The Westwood Recreation Department is searching for dependable staff to grow our Recreation Therapy offerings, assisting in developing new programs such as sports, arts, outings, and more. The Adaptive Activity Instructor will participate in designing, planning, and executing programs with the support of the Therapeutic Recreation Specialist. Programs are expected to be safe, fun, therapeutic, and of the high quality expected of the Westwood Recreation Department.

Responsibilities and duties include the following: Assist in developing and executing a specialized and inclusive group program for individuals with varying abilities. Program opportunities include, but are not limited to, arts and crafts, dance, fitness, music, theatre, and sports. Interact and communicate with parents and guardians. Staff must keep a high level of energy, understanding that participants flourish in environments where adults role model expectations. Being punctual and in attendance at every class is important. We are looking for staff we can depend on.

Requirements/Qualifications:
Qualifications and experience: Must be a high school graduate with at least 3 years’ experience working with people with disabilities. Group supervision of people with and without disabilities is required. Ability to work with people of varying ages, backgrounds, and abilities. Excellent communication skills are required. First Aid and CPR certifications are required within the first 90 days of work.
