Job Description:
The Westwood Recreation Department is searching for dependable staff to work in our Recreation Therapy programs, leading activities such as sports, arts, outings, and more. The Adaptive Activity Assistant Instructor will execute and assist with classes that are planned and set up by the Recreation Program Managers. Programs are expected to be safe, fun, therapeutic, and of the high quality expected of the Westwood Recreation Department. Most programs are held during weekday afternoons, evenings or weekends.

Responsibilities and duties include the following: Execute activity curriculum planned by the Program Managers. Ensure classes are fun and educational while maintaining a safe and respectful environment. Interact and communicate with parents and guardians. Staff must keep a high energy level, understanding that participants flourish in environments where adults role model expectations. Attendance and punctuality at every class is important. We are looking for staff we can depend on.

Requirements/Qualifications:
Qualifications and experience: Must be a high school graduate with at least 2 years’ experience working with people with disabilities. Group supervision of people with and without disabilities is required. Ability to work with people of varying ages, backgrounds, and abilities. Excellent communication skills are required. First Aid and CPR certifications are required within the first 90 days of work.
