Job Title: Mental Health Therapist Level I (School-based Program)
Department: Mental Health and Substance Abuse
Supervisor: Senior School-Based Health Manager Program
Location: School(s) designated by Prince George’s Public Schools and LCDP’s Hyattsville Clinic, MD. Due to PGCPS schedule this is a hybrid position. This position requires in person and remote.
Classification: Exempt/ Salaried
Synopsis: To support our School-Based Mental Health Program, we seek dynamic Licensed Mental Health Clinicians with experience with and a passion for working with youth in a school-based setting. Our clinicians provide support in prevention, positive self-image, mindfulness, and advocacy to erase the stigma of mental health in school. Clinicians work closely with teachers, school staff, and parents to support students and their families. The primary goals for our providers are quality patient care, patient satisfaction, and teamwork toward enhancing the program.
Qualifications: Required Education and Experience:
- Licensed as a LICSW, LGSW, LPC, or LGPC in Maryland
Preferred Education and Experience: - Minimum two years of clinical work experience providing individual, family, and group therapy to the Latino population
- Knowledge of a variety of therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral and Psychodynamic Therapies
Required Skills/Abilities/Certifications/Licenses: - Fluent in Spanish and English
- Good English writing skills
- Excellent computer skills and experience
- Licensed or eligible to be licensed in MD as LGSW or LMSW, or LGPC
Duties and Responsibilities: - Program Development
- Assist the Senior School-Based Program Manager (SSBPM) in program development and expansion as needed and as funding opportunities arise.
- Assist the Senior School-Based Program Manager (SSBPM) in developing program protocols for School settings.
- Assist Director & team of Prince George’s Public Schools on implementation of program, feedback, & consultations.
- Assist the Senior School-Based Program Manager (SSBPM) in identifying and applying appropriate intake forms, screenings, and evaluation tools for each client per program protocols.
- Keep the Senior School-Based Program Manager (SSBPM) informed of all programmatic issues and make recommendations for improvement.
- Attend all departmental meetings, school and program meetings on-site and in the community, and collaborate with the team to meet programmatic goals.
- Attend inter-disciplinary meetings as directed by Department Director &the Senior School-Based Program Manager (SSBPM)
- Attend community team meetings as needed for case coordination.
- Provide monthly data reports as requested by Department Director and Program Manager.
- Participate in community activities as needed.
- Other duties, as requested by Program Manager or Department Director
Clinical Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Clinical MH Manager, provide mental health counseling and therapy to students and families in the school setting.
Provide mental health counseling and therapy using different theoretical approaches (Cognitive-Behavioral, Solution-Focused, psychodynamic) according to client needs.
Provide mental health assessments to clients referred by School personnel and the Community Schools team.
Assist client in accessing outside services when student is not an appropriate referral for outpatient treatment at LCDP’s school program.
Communicate with medical providers and/or case managers, teachers, school counselors, and/or Principals to provide updates regarding client progress.
Provide crisis intervention services as needed. Ensure that measures are taken to protect the safety of clients and staff.
Develop treatment plans for each client based on their mental health diagnosis and psychosocial needs.
Implement identified screening and evaluation tools as required per program.
Follow departmental protocol for clinical documentation, as well as tracking of appointments in the EcW system.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Help in Recruiting, interviews, and training mental health interns.
Provides clinical supervision to Social Work interns
Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations as requested by schools.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at times
Requirements/Qualifications:
