Brookline Center for Community Mental Health Hiring for Lead Clinician for Innovative Mental Health Program

Location: Brookline, MA

Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced mental health clinician to help lead the M-PATH program. The Lead Clinician will provide assessments, care coordination and family support to youth and families who contact M-PATH.

Early intervention leads to improved outcomes for young people experiencing the onset of psychotic symptoms. Here in Massachusetts, twenty programs provide evidence-based coordinated specialty care to those in clinical high risk or first episode phase of illness – offering hope to the hundreds of youth, young adults, and their families who develop symptoms of psychosis each year. But only a fraction of young people with early psychosis find their way to services – leading to delay in diagnosis and treatment.
With the support of the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health, the Brookline Center for Community Mental Health is building a triage and navigation resource hub that will rapidly connect young people and families across Massachusetts who are experiencing symptoms of psychosis with the help they need when they need it. This program, the Massachusetts Psychosis Assessment and Triage Hub (M-PATH) will engage youth and families, assess clinical need and urgency, and guide youth and families to the appropriate resources – through a combination of consultation, support, facilitated referrals, and care coordination. MPATH will be staffed by knowledgeable clinicians, care coordinators, and peer specialists. Collaborative arrangements with Clinical High Risk and First Episode Psychosis programs across the state will facilitate the referral process, minimizing burden on families and referring providers and ensuring that engagement happens quickly and effectively.

The Lead Clinician will receive supervision, consultation and support from the CEDAR Clinic– the first and the largest Clinical High Risk for Psychosis program in MA.

The ideal candidate will be an independently licensed master’s level clinician with at least two years of experience providing clinical care to adolescents or young adults with serious emotional disorders or early psychosis. Understanding of the clinical course of psychosis and a macro level understanding of mental health systems and services is an important prerequisite. Experience with program development and strong organizational and communication skills are highly preferred.
