De Novo: Clinical Social Worker

De Novois a dynamic community-based agency that provides affordable mental health counseling and free legal services for low-income people throughout the Boston/Cambridge area. De Novo seeks a full-time social worker to work in its Program for Global Human Rights and Resilience. S/he will report to the Clinical Director and Associate Clinical Director.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Provide individual and group psychotherapy and casework services to refugee and immigrant victims of crime.
  2. Perform assessments, triage, and provide referrals for trauma survivors, including survivors of torture.            
  3. Ensure that clients are aware of available services including victim compensation.
  4. Consult with legal staff about mental health issues of the Center’s legal clients who are victims of crime.
  5. Community outreach and engagement in collaboration with partner organizations Transition House and Cambridge Economic Opportunity Committee (CEOC), including the possibility of co-location at one of the partner organizations one day a week.
  6. Assist with data collection and reporting.
  7. Provide backup and assistance to Associate Clinical Director and Clinical Director.

Qualifications/Competencies include:

  1. LCSW/LICSW or LICSW eligible.
  2. Fluency in Spanish is strongly preferred.
  3. Experience as a social worker with people with low income and with people from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
  4. Experience with case management, diagnosis, and psychotherapy.
  5. Ability to lead, motivate, encourage and work collaboratively with volunteer mental health professionals and agency staff.
  6. Ability to provide case consultation to social work students and volunteer mental health professionals.
  7. Competence in areas of mental illness, substance abuse, psychological trauma, cultural sensitivity and domestic violence.
  8. Possess familiarity with local agencies and service providers.
  9. Excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills.
