Living Independently Forever, Inc. (LIFE), a non-profit providing supported independent living for adults with learning disabilities for over 26 years, has an exciting career opportunity for an experienced Human Services director with a passion for helping people of all abilities to live their best lives.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and support the independent living skills and well-being of program participants
  • Recruit, train, schedule, manage and inspire a team of exceptional support staff
  • Develop and maintain positive and pro-active relationships with the family members of the individuals supported in the program.
  • Maintain positive relationships with LIFE’s partners at the Department of Developmental Services (DDS), area schools and their transition teams, as well as other referring organizations.
  • Conduct quality assessments of the electronic healthcare records and support the good health of program participants by ensuring staff are scheduling annual and follow up visits to healthcare providers.
  • Support the success of LIFE’s participants through staff who consistently promote the acquisition of new independent living skills 
  • Working with the Employment Department, ensure program participants have access to diverse employment opportunities, appropriate on the job supports, and career paths that inspire them.
  • Working with the Fitness Department and an active social calendar, ensure program participants have access to a variety of fun and edifying things to do to keep them healthy and engaged.
  • Develop a rapport with the program participants through weekly interactions and by being a trusted advisor and sounding board.
  • Support LIFE’s admissions efforts by conducting tours, assessing potential program participants, hosting Open House events and more.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, Masters strongly preferred
  • Experience working with individuals with Autism and learning disabilities
  • A problem-solver with excellent organizational skills
  • A gifted communicator, highly organized with the ability to multitask
  • A self-starter able to perform autonomously with minimal supervision
  • A leader, able to hire, manage and motivate staff to do their best

Salary Range: $50,000 – $65,000
