OverviewStudent Affairs is pleased to offer a variety of Graduate Assistant positions in its respective units. The Graduate Assistant role is designed to provide a learning environment that fosters growth and development and gives you the skills and knowledge to be successful in your careers while helping us to empower students to achieve the greatest potential in their personal and academic development. We currently have the following openings. While first preference will be considered, placement will be based on a candidate’s experience and qualifications.

  • Dates of Employment: August 2020 – May, 2021. These are 9-month positions, renewable for a second year based on performance.


Disability Support Services (DSS) – 1 opening

The Graduate Assistant for DSS will collaborate with professional staff to provide student support and services to students with disabilities and/or medical impairments. Graduate Assistant will assist with scheduling, conducting student intakes; compiling DSS data reports; developing and evaluating processes; reviewing policies and procedures; and facilitating the peer note taker accommodation.

Campus Life – 2 openings

The Graduate Assistant(s) for Campus Life will work with staff to plan and administer student services including: event planning (i.e. orientation, Campus Life fairs, family weekend), training development, application process for clubs and organizations, recruitment and selection for student leadership positions, departmental operations, social media and advertising campaigns, oversight of student workers, and campus programming. Possible night and weekend work.

Residential Life and Learning- 2 openings

The Graduate Assistant for Residential Life and Learning is a Part-time/Live-In position that includes housing and a meal plan. The position will work with staff to manage daily operations, participate in on-call duty rotation, educational programming, community development, staff training, staff selection, and departmental assessment. The Graduate Assistant for Residence Life will be required to participate in Residence Life on Call (ROC) Duty Rotation- including weekends, after-hours, break periods and holidays. When on-call, acts as the primary contact for on-campus emergencies or crises; writes Incident Reports and attends Code of Conduct meetings; adjudicates minor level cases; and makes necessary referrals to counseling, academic services, and campus resources.

Student Affairs – 1 opening

The Graduate Assistant for Student Affairs will work with staff to plan and administer student services including: coordination and implementation of the Student Support Network; data and reporting; systems monitoring; management of social media and website content; organization of Commencement; oversight of study spaces; and campus-wide program and events planning.


  • Currently or will be pursuing a master’s degree in special education, higher education and/or student affairs administration, education, counseling or related field concurrently while in the position.
  • Undergraduate clinical work, rehabilitation counseling, counseling, special education, student leadership, orientation, residence life, community service, or related experiences highly desired
  • Must be comfortable working with various forms of technology, including social media
  • Demonstrates teamwork and leadership while working with staff and students
  • Available, visible, and approachable to students within the college community
  • Ability to demonstrate discretion, confidentiality, and integrity while working with student and staff
